Software development.
Alongside computer help I design, build and host software for small businesses — from a Shopify store to a bespoke web application that replaces a tangle of spreadsheets.
One developer, no agency layers: you talk directly to the person writing the code, which keeps costs down and turnaround fast.
Everything I build can be hosted and maintained on infrastructure I run, so it stays online, backed up and up to date without you thinking about it.
What I build
- Shopify store setup, theme customisation and app integration
- Small-business websites with booking, forms and payments
- Custom web apps — dashboards, portals, internal tools
- MVPs and first versions for startups and new business ideas
- Updating or rewriting legacy apps and spreadsheet-based processes
- Integrations and automation between the tools you already use
- Hosting, backups, monitoring and ongoing maintenance
Agency results without the agency bill.
Every project here is designed, built and hosted by one person — and that person works with Claude Code, Anthropic's AI coding tool, so work that once took an agency weeks takes days. The savings go straight into the price.
You talk directly to the person writing the code. No account managers, no subcontractors, no handovers — and none of their margins on your invoice.
I build with Claude Code, which multiplies what one experienced developer can deliver. Faster turnaround, fewer billable hours, same production quality.
Your site or app runs on infrastructure I manage — no reseller mark-ups, and the person who built it is the one keeping it online.
That combination suits new business ideas and startups especially well: you can get a real, working product in front of customers for a fraction of agency cost, then iterate as it grows. Get an instant estimate to see what yours would run to.
Fixed-price starting points.
"From" prices for well-defined jobs. Every quote is written down before work starts, and hosting is on infrastructure I run.

What I build on — and what I'd recommend.
No mystery ingredients. These are the tools behind the projects in my portfolio, chosen because they're proven, well documented and cheap to run. Every account is set up in your name, on plans you can see and cancel — so nothing here locks you to me.
- Go ↗ The language everything here is written in. It compiles to a single fast program with no runtime to keep patched — which is why these sites stay up and stay cheap to host.
- HTMX ↗ Gives pages the slick, no-reload feel of an app without a heavy JavaScript framework. Less code means fewer bugs and a smaller bill.
- SQLite ↗ The database. It lives inside the app, backs up as a single file, and comfortably handles a small business's workload.
- Claude, by Anthropic ↗ I write code with Claude Code, and I use the Claude API for features that need real language understanding — like the instant estimate on this site's quote page.
- Linode (Akamai) ↗ The servers your site or app actually runs on. Flat monthly pricing, no reseller mark-up, and I manage them myself.
- Caddy ↗ The web server out front. It renews your HTTPS certificate automatically, so your site never goes "not secure" over a long weekend.
- Cloudflare ↗ DNS, spam-bot filtering and protection from attack traffic. The free plan covers most small businesses.
- GitHub ↗ Where your source code lives, with tests and deployment running automatically on every change. The repository is yours.
- Amazon Web Services ↗ SES sends the transactional email — confirmations, receipts, invoices — and S3 holds the nightly off-site backups.
- Resend ↗ A simpler alternative to SES for app email. Worth the small premium when you want a dashboard rather than configuration.
- Stripe ↗ Card payments, subscriptions and payment links. Quick to set up and it settles straight into your bank account.
- Twilio ↗ SMS reminders and notifications, and phone numbers when a project needs one. Reminders alone pay for themselves in no-shows avoided.
- Shopify ↗ Where I point most retailers. If you're selling physical products, a Shopify store set up properly beats a custom build on both price and time.
- Google Cloud ↗ Calendar, sign-in and Maps APIs — so a booking system can write into the Google Calendar you already use.
- Mappify ↗ Australian address autocomplete and geocoding. More accurate here, and far cheaper, than the global alternatives.
Product names and trade marks belong to their respective owners. Listing them here says what I use and recommend — it doesn't imply any partnership or endorsement.

Live applications you can click on — from AI-powered learning tools to real estate platforms and a stock market game — each designed, built and hosted end to end. If you want to see more, the code for a lot of it is public on my GitHub ↗.
